Biological Science Technician

As a Biological Science Technician GS-09, you will:
Serve as the Eastern Rivers and Mountains Network (ERMN) Inventory and Monitoring Program's field lead for the Vegetation and Soils (Forest Health) and Rare Riparian Prairie Vital Signs monitoring protocols. Work closely with the ERMN Plant Ecologist to implement all aspects of the two monitoring protocols at up to eight NPS units included within the ERMN. Lead a seasonal field crew of technicians and cooperators, create works schedules, coordinate supplies and equipment, supervise safe work practices, and provide taxonomic expertise to guide work of other field staff. Oversee data entry and quality review for the two monitoring protocols, analyze data, prepare reports and updates, and collaborate with the ERMN Plant Ecologist to communicate findings to variety of audiences. This position is approximately 30% field work and 70% office work. Extended field data collection visits to ERMN parks will be undertaken each field season and will require 12-15 weeks of overnight travel per year. To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as, but not limited to:
making field observations of natural resource conditions (e.g. selects site locations, sampling techniques, appropriate equipment, logistics, etc.); evaluating observed conditions and problems, by interpreting variables, trends, correlations, and interrelationships among data and conditions; recommending natural resource management actions based on prescribed guidelines including keeping exact, detailed records of monitoring data, tabulating, statistically analyzing and summarizing data using personal computers and software packages; assisting Project Leads and Network Data Managers with meeting data management requirements of the monitoring projects and data quality review and certification, ensuring data are complete and meet standards for distribution and archiving; and/ or implementing biological resource management actions as a result of research and monitoring recommendations such as exotic vegetation control, vegetation management, restoration work, riparian protection, etc. . Successful completion of at least two full years of graduate education or a master's degree that is in a field of study that is directly related to the work of the position. Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
